“Mixes rigorous
reportage with memoir and history, slashing through romanticized versions of
the golden years and delivering tough truths.”
-Newsday
Susan Jacoby is the author of the bestseller, Never Say Die: The Myth and Marketing of The New Old Age, a controversial and critically acclaimed critique of how American marketers romanticize what awaits you - especially if you’re part of the baby boomer generation - in old age. There is nothing new about old age, no matter what advertisers promise. Mental and physical deterioration, financial difficulties, loneliness may be as much a part of old age for some as healthy, productive golden years will be for others. Jacoby is unsparing in her belief that people must learn to distinguish between marketing hype and realistic hope. She is the author of nine books, including The Age of American Unreason, and Alger Hiss and the Battle for History. She lives in New York City.
