Welcome to Thurber House!

Our mission is to celebrate the written word for the education and entertainment of the broadest possible audience and to continue the legacy of James Thurber. Thurber House: Where laughter, learning and literature meet.

Thurber House is located near downtown Columbus, OH at 77 Jefferson Ave in the restored home of James Thurber and his family. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, Thurber House is a living museum open to the public every day from 1–4 p.m. for free, self-guided tours. Guided tours are available on Sundays for $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Be sure to visit the Thurber Country Bookstore when you visit, or online, for exclusive Thurber memorabilia and books. Next door is Thurber Center, a multi-purpose space to host retreats, events, and meetings, that is available for rent.

Wireless internet is available in both Thurber House and Thurber Center.
